How do I make a Genealogy?

answers1: I'm assuming you are wanting to put together a "family
tree". Start with yourself and go backwards: i.e your siblings, your
parents, their siblings and parents, etc. It's always easier to go
with one parent at a time. I'd go with the parent that has the most
family that I'm familiar with. <br>
<br>
If you're doing this for a History class, it might not have to be your
family. In that case, there will be a lot more research involved. If
you have a choice, I'm sure your own family will be easiest. <br>
<br>
Ask your parents who their parents were, and if they knew their
grandparents. You could rely on relatives (aunts, uncles etc) or old
family friends.
answers2: Genealogy means finding your ancestry. You would start with
pulling your own birth certificate to confirm who your parents are
(women use maiden names). Yes..always use the record, even with what
you "know". Next, use a record of the parents, to learn who their
parents were. <br>
You can also work verbally with asking family if they are accessible.
Your main issue is time. Genealogy normally takes time, if you want to
go back many generations. Some teachers make the assumption that we
all have knowledge of immediate family.. and that is not always
correct. <br>

<br>
Here is a guide to work with (and of course, we hope you will get
fascinated and keep going after the homework part. <br>
Also, stop by <br>
www.familysearch.org <br>
download free copy of Personal Ancestral file. Great program, and you
can print out impressive charts to turn in. It's just a database
program to input the names/dates/etc.
answers3: Draw a family tree. Start with yourself at the bottom. Make
a branch that goes up and right and one that goes up and left. These
are your mom and your dad. From each of them make two branches that go
up to represent their mom and their dad. And just keep going up from
there. <br>
<br>
Here's an example made into a picture of a tree. <br>

<br>
<br>
You can just keep on branching up to as many generations as you know.
Put their first and last names and their birth and death dates if you
know them. <br>
<br>
For your genealogy, you can take that diagram and tell it like a
story. Add in the dates when your parents and grandparents and etc.
were married. List siblings where you know them. And if there is a
story of particular interest of historical significance, then add that
in, too. For example, my great grandfather was a soldier and served
under a famous general and was both mocked and praised by the general
in one exchange, and we tell that as part of our family history. <br>
<br>
Good luck! <br>

answers4: theis are a Free site but there is many that is out there
that is free. But here there are. <br>
<br>
www.myfamily.com <br>
www.heritagemakers.com <br>
www.genealogy.com <br>
www.ancestry.com <br>
<br>
These are just a small hand full that you can find to start your
family tree. The first one you can print it free off your printer at
home. but have fun <br>
