Rayford Latz: Liberals tend to change the language or words they feel will be negative to public opinion; it's not working.
Rhett Kaines: Liberals are investing in the American people. They are trying to generate greater tax revenue by increasing economic activity through attacking the main problem holding back our economic growth - a lack of consumer spending. Giving money to the poor generates more business for retailers near where poor people live, which in turn creates new employment opportunities for those poor people. How does giving more money to the people who already have most of the money help our economy? Do American businesses need more invest dollars to justify expanding their operations and creating more jobs, or do they just need more business?...Show more
Freeman Rutkin: We have both. Spending money on unjust wars and investing in cleaner energy.
Irma Poiter: Very astute!Liberals have a habit of distorting the language for their own p! urposes. That is why they also call tax cuts--i.e., letting people keep more of what they have earned--a "gift"; reverse discrimination becomes "affirmative action"; and censorship becomes "political correctness."
Sang Hanafin: I recall being told, several years ago (pre-Obama) being told (by my Republican president) that going out and spending money was investing in America. Was that not the right lesson to learn?
Ismael Sixon: Teaching the poor a trade and giving them the opportunity to make something of themselves is investing in our country's future. Making sure our populace is healthy and can work is investing in our country's future. We are raising a bunch of idiots now. Our standards need to be much higher and that will take longer school years and quality teachers who expect something of their students. Spending on our infrastructure, ie roads, bridges is also an investment. Our infrastructure is crumbling and we need to fix it....Show more
Torr! ie Weissenbach: It's called investing in the FUTURE, and not h! ave a short-sighted few that doesn't help like you do.
Claire Billegas: A return on an investment doesn't necessarily have to be directly measured in monetary gain. A car is an investment, with the payoff of dependence on public transportation eliminated. You will likely not gain any money ever from that car, but you still get payoff. For most people, the financial outlay for the vehicle is worth the return they get from it.Welfare is an investment the USA makes in order to prevent widespread violence and uprising from the people that capitalism has decided to throw away, and to protect the wages of those with more common or replaceable skills. That is the expected return. All spending is technically investing, and all investing is techincally spending, if you do not accept the sole definition of "return" is monetary in nature....Show more
