shoes for contemporary dance...?

Joie Libutti: I would check with the people holding the competetion to make sure what the rules state. Then make your decision, if it's okay in the rules, then I don't see a problem dancing in the shoes you are most comfortable with.

Hong Hunkin: if i was you, i would just do it in bare feet, it gives the dance alot better look. all contempory dances weaar bare feet, jazz shoes are for what they say jazz and modern. for contempory you throw yourself about and make it look effortless by gliding, socks or barefeet depending on how many chasses and stuff youu do! + you can point your feet alot better with shoes! hope i helped!

Majorie Chester: Depending on the costume I would wear jazz shoes instead of foot undies... I think you would be fine if you wore jazz shoes...

Charissa Riley: Do some other kind of dance. Modern dance is done barefoot.

What are some authors/books like Chuck Palahniuk?

answers1:I personally haven't found any. There are similarities in
Geek Love by Katharine Dunn, American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis,
Wasp Factory by Iain Banks, and Knockemstiff by Donald Pollock, but
I've yet to find an author that mimics Palahniuk. This turned up when I
searched for authors like Palahniuk, perhaps one of them will work for
you. http://www.multcolib.org/books/lists/palahniuk.htm...You can
also go to this site http://chuckpalahniuk.net/author/tour which is
supposed to be Palahniuk's official site and get

i want to be an author?

answers1:If you have a story to tell, or some information that you
feel would be helpful to others, just write it down, stating the facts
and circumstances, and don't worry about grammar, punctuation and
spelling at this point. It's important to get your ideas down first,
and then you can correct your errors afterwards, do some editing and
fine-tuning, and then produce the finished product. Being a writer
involves more than just the ability to write. It takes patience and
perseverence. Also, be prepared to receive numerous rejection slips
if you're submitting your work for publication. Just don't get
discouraged, because this is part of the game. You can get a lot of
information on line, at your public library, at your local newspaper,
and from other authors. You can also take a course in writing at a
community college or adult education class. Writing is a very
rewarding occupation, but in the beginning, it will not make you rich
and famous. Unfortunately, you'll have to have a job until and if you
reach that status. Good luck!...Show more
answers2:try to go to local publishers or authors and ask them how
they got their book published (for the author) or the methods of

Writing and Literature (English major), which gives me various writing

answers13:It depends on how well your work sales.
answers14:Is it good? No. But if you need my approval or praise in
order to write, you're not made of the right stuff to be a writer
anyway. Let me ask you a question: Did you simply fire this off and
share it without proofreading it, editing it, revising it, refining it
and then rewriting it? Because it certainly looks that way. If you
want to build confidence in yourself and your writing ability, then
craft pieces that you yourself can be proud of. Part of that means
taking the time and effort to perfect and streamline everything you
produce before soliciting opinions on it. Be your own worst critic,
then you'll see real development. Like most of the askers here, you'll
most likely opt to select an answer from someone who goes in for
paying you lip service and telling you that your piece is grand as the
best one. If you do, ask yourself what the point was in posting this
in the first place....Show more

answers16:Publishers will usually give the writer a small advance,
perhaps 3 to 5 thousand, upon signing the contract. Then they'll keep
all the sales until they get paid back and start turning a profit. If
and when profit actually starts happening, you'll get about 40-50% of
that. Most writers never see more than the sign-on bonus for their
first book. Although 3 grand might sound like a lot, if you break down
the total time you spent writing, polishing, and working out the
contract, it usually doesn't even make minimum wage. So plan to take a
loss on your first book. Then write a new book that's even better, go
to an even bigger company with proof that you've been published
before, and hope for a better contract. The bigger publishers will
have more ability to get your book in more places and make more
publicity. That's when you start making real money....Show more

answers23:There is no true average. The amount made depends on a lot
of things - genre (some pay more, some pay less), popularity of the
topic, previous sales record of the author, market demand, etc. Some
genres pay as little as $2500 (a few pay only half of that), and a few
genres pay as much as $25,000 (if the market conditions are "ripe").
Advances are based on the minimal expected sales. If you sell more
than that, the advance "earns out" and you start getting royalties
(which can be 75 cents to 3 dollars per copy sold, depending on your
contract and book format). The "average" advance for a new author in
the genre I write for is about $8,000.If it takes you a year to write,
edit, and polish your manuscript, four months to find an agent, two
months to sell the work to an editor, and (on average) a year to get
published and into stores, then you have worked 30 months for your
advance. Working at McDonalds could actually pay better (they pay
above minimum wage here, plus overtime).25,000 advance if you're lucky
/ 30 months = 833 per monthI saw an industry average given as $46,000,
but that includes all genres (where payout is not equal), the few
authors that make millions on a few books (so the results are skewed).
Take those authors out and you're really looking at less than half of
that, which still includes authors with dozens of books in print for
years (which also skews the results). There is no true
average....Show more
answers24:it actually depends on how good the book is and how good the

answers29:If you want to be an author then just write and don't even
think about money. Writers don't make a lot of money unless by some
small chance they do manage to sell many copies of their novel or
become technical writers or copywriters (like myself and I am still
not making much).

sells. The author gets the money, and their agent also gets a
percentage of it. It all varies on the contract you sign with your
publisher and agent.Uhm, good luck with that MANUSCRIPT ....Show more

Do you think books will become obsolete?

answers1:Who knows? But the microwave didn't make cooking obsolete.
answers2:No, that would suck.
answers3:It's a possibility. But you have to pay like 3 dollars more
to download the books on Kindle than you'd pay buying them at a store,
so it's not really worth it right now. Maybe if they brought down the
price to download. I mean, honestly, it takes WAY less money to
distribute books electronically, so why charge MORE?
answers4:Nope :)Books will NEVER become obsolete
