Dorris Homola: Many people around the world think that global warming exists. But actually it hasn't been proven yet which means that it still remains a theory. There had been a lot of signs that earth is warming up. For instance there are a lot of carbon dioxide which are being released into the atmosphere. Some it are caused by fossil fues being burned, others are caused by trees being burned. During a tree's life time it absorbeds a carbon dioxide as part of it's respiration. These carbon dioxide remains inside the tree until its death. And when the tree is burned it releases that carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. This is called "Carbon Neutral".The theory of global warming can be supported by various facts. Some of the facts can be about the green house gases. Green house gases is when the earth's atmosphere becomes thick that every time heat energy comes from the sun, the earth absored it and some are being re-radiated back to space, but it is trapped by the think ! carbon dioxide and methane. That is where it got the word "green house" because the glasses traps some energy.Methane is also a green house gas, it contributes to global warming. Methane comes from rice fields and (you won't believe this) cows' fart.In your essay you must argue why most people belive it exists. Try using the SOS technique as your conclusion: Some people believe...(ordinary people) Other people believe...(scientists) So I think...DO NOT BE CONFUSED. GLOBAL WARMING DOES NOT EXIST! IT'S ONLY A THEORY!Try not copying this. Just use that facts if you can, they are going to test you about your knowledge not others. Good luck!...Show more

Hermina Ketring: Fict! ion
Ervin Laeger: The greenhouse effect is the process in which the emission of infrared radiation by the atmosphere warms a planet's surface. The name comes from an incorrect analogy with the warming of air inside a greenhouse compared to the air outside the greenhouse. The greenhouse effect was discovered by Joseph Fourier in 1824 and first investigated quantitatively by Svante Arrhenius in 1896.The Earth's average surface temperature of 14 °C (57 °F) would otherwise be about -19 °C (-2.2 °F) in the absence of the greenhouse effect. Global warming, a recent warming of the Earth's lower atmosphere, is believed to be the result of an enhanced greenhouse effect due to increased concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. In addition to the Earth, Mars and Venus have greenhouse effects. The term 'greenhouse effect' originally came from the greenhouses used for gardening, but it is a misnomer since greenhouses operate differently. A greenhouse is built of gl! ass. It heats up mainly because the sun warms the ground inside it and this warms the air in the greenhouse. The air continues to heat because it is confined within the greenhouse, unlike the environment outside the greenhouse where warm air near the surface rises and mixes with cooler air aloft. This can be demonstrated by opening a small window near the roof of a greenhouse: the temperature will drop considerably. It has also been demonstrated experimentally (Wood, 1909): a "greenhouse" built of rock salt (which is transparent to infrared radiation) heats up just as one built of glass does. Greenhouses thus work primarily by preventing convection; the atmospheric greenhouse effect however reduces radiation loss, not convection. It is quite common, however, to find sources that make the erroneous "greenhouse" analogy. Although the primary mechanism for warming greenhouses is the prevention of mixing with the free atmosphere, the radiative properties of the glazing can stil! l be important to commercial growers. With the modern development of ne! w plastic surfaces and glazings for greenhouses, this has permitted construction of greenhouses which selectively control radiation transmittance in order to better control the growing environment.Global warming is the increase in the average temperature of the Earth's near-surface air and oceans since the mid-twentieth century, and its projected continuation. The average global air temperature near the Earth's surface increased 0.74 ± 0.18 °C (1.33 ± 0.32 °F) during the hundred years ending in 2005.[1] The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) concludes "most of the observed increase in globally averaged temperatures since the mid-twentieth century is very likely due to the observed increase in anthropogenic (man-made) greenhouse gas concentrations"via the greenhouse effect. Natural phenomena such as solar variation combined with volcanoes probably had a small warming effect from pre-industrial times to 1950 and a small cooling effect from 1950 onwardThese ba! sic conclusions have been endorsed by at least thirty scientific societies and academies of science, including all of the national academies of science of the major industrialized countries. While individual scientists have voiced disagreement with some findings of the IPCC, the overwhelming majority of scientists working on climate change agree with the IPCC's main conclusions...Show more

Finally, I would show that China and India are praised for their green sources while continuing to increase their total emissions. Finally, I would argue if CO2 and other green house gases are a problem then why do they compare per capita amounts instead of gross or total emissions? CO2 has lagged behind temperature in the past while this time, they're going up simultaneously. Etc. Hilde Heskett: The feeling of how hot things are depends for the most part on what the relative humidity is. Just like in the winter where there is a wind chill factor added to tell you how cold it is going to feel when you step outside in the summer there is the heat index to tell you how miserable you are going to feel.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heat_indexTake a day at 95 degrees farenheit and 20% humidity and it is comfortable, warm but comfortable. Take that humidity to 80% and y! ou will be suffering as if it was 20 degrees hotter. This morning I checked my system before going to lunch because it felt very hot. The temperature was 83 degrees and the humidity was at almost 70%. After lunch I notice it was getting more comfortable and checked. The temperature was at 85 degrees and the humidity had dropped to 63%. At 4:00PM I was feeling good and it was starting to feel nice and cool. The temperature was at 87 degrees and the humidity gad dropped to 43%. So the temperature was rising, it was really getting hotter throughout the afternoon, but because the humidity was dropping it felt cooler. So suppose you had a day where the temperature was 100 degrees and the humidity was 20%. After sunset it will rapidly cool to the low 50s by morning. Now raise the relative humidity to 90% and the next morning the temperature will still be in the 70s just before sunrise. So between a night with 20% humidly and one with 90% you will have a night time temperature 25 o! r more degrees hotter.
