Why do we need to know the different types of poetry?
answers1: The main reason one studies poetry is so you can come to
understand it better. (This is the main reason one studies most
things).

An important way to understand poetry is to be able to discuss it with
other people (especially other people who already understand it).

When people who understand poetry discuss it, we use quite a few
technical terms. Terms about figures of speech (litotes, metaphor,
register shift), terms about genre (lyric, epic, detective fiction),
terms about form (sonnet, ballade, alexandrine). We use these
technical terms as a form of shorthand: a doctor talks about embolisms
and necrosis because those are conditions that commonly occur in
medicine, and will be understood by other doctors. Literary
specialists talk about framebreaking and ergodic methods because such
jargon defines things clearly, and saves time.

Some teachers know that this is the purpose of jargon in literature
appreciation - as a tool for clarity and terseness: they teach only
what is needed for a particular poem.

Sadly, some teachers have also discovered that teaching jargon is easy
(teaching poetry is always difficult), and they teach technical terms
without explaining why they are needed.

If a teacher asks you to list (say) all the synecdoches in a poem -
but never tells you why this matters - she is simply incompetent.

If you can't understand an explanation - you haven't learned anything.
But the teacher still gets paid.
answers2: extremely tough thing. check out on to google. that might help!

Should philosophy be part of school curriculums?
answers1: I say yes. But you'll always have controversy over what is
being taught because many might not agree. And the government tries to
tell us what we can and can't teach/learn. So the chances of it
happening are unlikely.
answers2: Yes, absolutely, but it shouldn't be called philosophy
because most parents will think it's a waste of time. Instead, high
school should require courses in critical thinking skills, analysis,
rhetoric and argument, ethics, and inductive reasoning. They should
be required in high school. Too many students arrive at college
unprepared to think clearly.

High schools should avoid naming courses philosophy, logic, or
metaphysics because parents who are afraid of philosophy will think
those courses are not a proper part of a curriculum. There is a
wide-spread bias against philosophy among the ignorant because it is
so often associated with sophistry and trickery. Those parents who
know what philosophy is will be glad their children are learning
thinking skills.

what is masters of philosophy about?
answers1: The Masters in Philosophy at the University of Groningen is
an education program aimed at teaching students key skills in cricial
analysis, independent research, and both oral and written
communication within the context of philosophy. A central theme of
this education course is both critical reflection on life, science,
culture, and society, and the discussion of it, as nothing in
philosophy is self-evident.

Students are taught within these four focuses, and are also able to
enroll in other courses outside of the Philosophy department. This
allows them to not only gain an in-depth knowledge of Philosophy, but
also to acquire an overview of the central debates within the
discipline they choose. During the last 6 months of their education,
students complete a thesis - the culmination of 6 months research.
