I need help with the biggest decision of my life?

answers 0:Let me give you some back story.I'm 24 years old, got married this past October, we bought a house for $135,000 we JUST got a vehicle last month for $24,000. On top of every other normal bill we all pay.I have a job now where I make $36,000 a year (For those in California and bigger states, I'm in Indiana so that's a good amount here), my wife is a teacher and brings in about the same.My job is a desk job, all computer work, but it's like a high school here. The people are annoying, but I have no real problems. It's a sit down job with no physical labor. I don't really like doing it, but I don't hate my job either. I'm indifferent. Mostly because the job security is amazing. Let's just say I'll never have to worry. Also the benefits are amazing, I only pay $35 a month and that covers medica! l, dental and vision.I've been offered a job as a police officer though, my lifetime dream job, after testing and everything else. Thing is, the job security isn't that great because there's always a ton of people who want to be a police officer. But it is my dream job. The only problem is I have financial responsibilities as you can tell. The police officer job would only net me about a $2,000 raise to do a LOT more work. And that's assuming I do well enough in the academy to graduate and all that. There's also several evaluations I'd have to pass before I'm given my pass to patrol on my own. I want this bad, but I'm so scared to leave a job where the job security is air tight.Do I take this risk?...Show moreanswers 1:i think the risk is really big...u've a great jobanswers 2:I'm assuming you don't have any children? In that case go for it .. after you talk it over with your wife..answers 3:Just because a lot of people want to be a police office will not affect your! job security. Once you are in as a police office, 99% of the ! time you are in for life unless you have a major screw up. But it sounds like the job you have now will eventually cause you to have a boring life. I once quit a super secure government job because if I had not I eventually would have gone mad. I followed my dream, went to California for 10 years and I have no regrets....answers 4:this is a hard one. normally i would say follow your dream.i suppose you and your wife have talked yourselves sill over this.you have to weigh up future job satisfaction against boredom and security. in the end i think only yourselves can come to a conclusion.answers 5:If I were you I wouldn't, at least until I payed off all my debts. You have a great job with no worries and you wanna leave it for your dream job that will just give you a lot of headaches. Stick with the current one until your debt free then take the risk if you really want your dream job.answers 6:Police officer - works 24/7 - early duty, late duty or night duty.Police officer - c! arries a gun but is also regarded as a legitimate target himselfPolice officer - has to be seen to be 100% honest with the maximum integrity. Whether it is friend, family member or fellow officer breaking the law, it is your duty to turn them in.Police officer - sworn to serve all sections of the community. If you have any personal racial or religious bias at all, the job is not for you as you will be required to protect the rights of groups (to assemble, demonstrate etc.) whose policies and point of view are abhorrent to you...answers 7:I always try to play it safe. You could always be a cop l8r on in life, right?
